BCS to be debated in Congress

Republicans Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah and Rep. Joe Barton of Texas recently sponsored legislation to remove the title of National Championship from the NCAA Football title game.

Barton states that no football game should be named a "National Championship" if it is not the conclusion of a playoff system.

Although Barton is correct, College Football needs a playoff system, but to bring this to Congress in times like these is just ludicrous. Barton is on the Energy and Commerce Committee and Hatch sits on the Senate Judiciary's subcommittee. Is it me, or does this just seem like a desperate Republican attempt to prevent Congress from expediting President Obama's plans for this country.

I keep reading reports and have heard Obama repeatedly voice his desire to see a playoff system implemented in college football. I'd like to hear his opinion whether this is really the time that Congress should be meeting about such a trivial subject matter. This is yet another example of politics getting in the way of getting what needs to be done in Washington.

Capitol Hill is preparing for yet another wasteful sports legislation like the Mitchell Report or the other numerous hearings involving steroids and HGH in baseball. Don't get me wrong, I do support trying to clean up the game of baseball, and hold the position that anyone tied to the Mitchell Report or performance enhancing drugs should not be enshrined in Cooperstown without an asterisk. However, like the use of performance enhancements in baseball is an MLB and global baseball community issue, the BCS is an issue that should be handled by the NCAA, NOT CONGRESS!!!

Here we go again with the political finger pointing and corruption within the system... it's unbe-fucking-lievable how greedy banks are these days... AIG got a $170 billion bailout paid by the American taxpayers and what do they do with it? they spend $165 million on "retention bonuses" to corporate executives of the "struggling" enterprise... the sad part is that over 50 of the recipients of these bonuses that were in extreme excess of $100,000 each have left the company... there are "rumors" that these bonuses were bribes to avoid leaking sensitive information on the business practices of AIG to potential employees that could leave the company to join one of their competitors... government supported extortion is what I call it... I have the utmost respect for President Barack Obama for accepting full responsibility for resolving the banking debacle that has bringing down capitalism for years now... Geithner does admit that he should have known about the bonuses earlier... meanwhile, Democratic Senator Chris Dodd from Connecticut admits his guilt in his part in the removal of the contract stipulation included in Obama's Stimulus Bill signed last month that would have prevented these bonuses from being distributed... Dodd also called for a 90% retribution tax on the money received from these bonuses, which is somewhat of a positive step forward... Obama has refused to join in on the finger pointing, supports Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and is not making excuses... no double talk, no empty promises, he's just telling the American public that these issues will be addressed and measures will be taken to ensure that this does not happen again.

this entire issue is just proving my theory that every creation is destroyed by its creator... capitalism was created by wealthy, business-minded politicians and businessmen and the greed which fuels the "American Dream" is causing its collapse... hopefully our government steps up and takes back the power from the corrupt corporate America and reverses the pipeline burst we're seeing that gives big business too much power in this country... not only in the banking and financial industries, but in healthcare, education and energy companies... it makes me sick that PA Governor Ed Rendell failed in trying to prevent Sunoco from laying off 750 Sunoco employees in Pennsylvania in the next few months... these layoffs arent to allow Sunoco to stay afloat as a leader in the oil industry, they are corporate decisions made in order to increase profit margins in the near future... I know that our Federal government is already tackling an enormous problem in the financial industry, but as soon as that is stabilized, oil companies should be investigated and better regulated to protect employees from heartless corporate greed.

Greedy bastards like AIG CEO Ed Libby and Sunoco CEO Lynn Laverty Elsenhans need to be locked up for crimes against the American labor force.

Terrell Owens finally was given a kick out the door in Dallas when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave into the repeated expression of displeasure with their future Hall Of Fame wide receiver from front office... Wednesday night was the end of T.O.'s rein as primary receiver in Dallas. Reaction from most fans in Dallas was of relief, some saying, "It's about time. I wish they did this sooner." Criticism followed Owens throughout his career, some justly given, but some was media-frenzied slander. Either way you look at it, America's team is moving on T.O.-less and the NFL world is just awaiting what the future brings this VERY talented athlete, regardless of the negativity he brings to the locker room.

Steve Young referred to Terrell Owens' work ethic as one that rivals that of Jerry Rice, which is an enormous sized boast considering the company he's being compared to. Donavan McNabb considered Owens as a high maintenance basket case, which some in Philly say the same about their franchise quarterback. Tony Romo maintained a virtual "no comment" to the media when asked about his star wideout, but Romo had his own off the field issues to deal with. Steve Mariucci and Andy Reid had their hands full with controlling a volatile locker room atmosphere with T.O.'s ever-present controversy that surrounded him. Bill Parcells refused to even refer to "The Player" by name due to his inability to tolerate the media fiasco created by T.O.'s antics. Wade Philips backed T.O. like any good coach should, yet kept a low profile when asked about Owens. However he didn't have much interaction with the offense since Jason Garrett handled most of the player-coach interactions on offense.

The bottom line is, the Cowboys' offense is weaker now without him and whatever team he plays for next season will reap the benefits of his talent. However, character issues are a large part of a player's value to the team. I personally believe that almost every star receiver in the NFL is high maintenance and wants the ball more than they deserve. You don't see the Carolina Panthers considering parting with Steve Smith, or the Arizona Cardinals not wanting Anquan Boldin to return. These are players who are both high maintenance players who have had conflict with their respective QB or coaching staff about getting the ball more often. Granted, Smith and Boldin have never disrupted team chemistry, but has T.O.'s disruption been as much as it's being portrayed in the media? Chad Johnson is most closely compared to T.O. when it comes to behavior detrimental to the team, and has flirted with his release or trade demands. With T.J. Houshmendzadeh going to Seattle, I'd highly doubt we'd see Ocho Cinco in a new uniform anytime soon. Dallas has a good replacement for T.O. with Roy Williams, so next season's outlook isn't as grim as most think. Roy is no Terrell though. I think they should have weighed their options to possibly trade him, because releasing him is costing the organization an extra $9 million this coming year and they get no compensation for his departure.

As to T.O.'s future, I agree with Herm Edwards, the Tennessee Titans would be a good fit for him, and with their ground-dominated offense, he could create some explosiveness to their team when they have the ball.

Teams T.O. will most likely play for next season:
1. Tennessee Titans
2. Baltimore Ravens
3. Washington Redskins
4. New England Patriots - wow, this would be the best WR core in the history of the NFL)
5. New York Jets

Teams who should consider signing T.O. but most likely won't:
- Atlanta Falcons - with T.O. and Roddy White together, Matt Ryan could become the next Marino
- Buffalo Bills - just lost best O-lineman (Derrick Dockery), so they need help opening up their offense in other ways, T.O. would do this.
- Miami Dolphins - Parcells & T.O. reunion would be priceless and Pennington put up Pro Bowl numbers last year throwing to a bunch of guys I never heard of.
- Minnesota Vikings - with T.O. and AP on the field at the same time, records could be shattered, for real... Peterson could run for 2500+ yards with a top-tier WR on the field with him.
- Oakland Raiders - this organization has been a team-of-the-damned for a while, so T.O. would fit right in.

Theory of Double Infinity vs Christian Fundamentalism

This video comes from Edward Current, who I think is one Christian Fundamentalist who just lost his freaking mind... although he has a point but because he's a member of a religious organization, he just doesnt know why his point is irrefutably correct... his concepts about happiness and joy being caused by God's will is way off however... these 2 concepts are credited to our human brains and bodies processing the hormones released after and enjoyable occurrence, NOT because of a belief or disbelief in God... philosophically, my this entire intro to what I have to say is subject to scrutiny, but I'll continue anyway...

I am the child of a Catholic father and Methodist mother, and baptized Methodist... now my baptism is as far as my loyalty to Christian churches... has nothing to do with a disbelief about God's existence, but with the fact that I dont believe in structured religion... I DO BELIEVE IN GOD... but not the God that most people believe in... regardless of a person's religious affiliation or beliefs, almost every person I've ever talked to about God has humanized "him" and this is horrifyingly wrong... religion was created to govern and explain the unexplainable... why try to prove something that can't be proved beyond reasonable doubt and without rebuttal... I'm going to be a hypocrit, so here is my explanation of what I believe God's and our existence is and means:

Everything has 2 levels of infinite existence, spiritual and physical, this includes me, you, everyone you've every known or not known, even God... basically a ying and yang type relationship... thus, my Theory of Double Infinity... now the spiritual God is the existence of God most people associate with as being the omnipotent ruler and creator of everything around us... I have no argument with that... to me, the physical existence of God is the result of the Big Bang (everything)... for all religious fanatics that dont believe in the Big Bang, the energy caused by it IS the physical existence of God... in our solar system, our immediate God is Sol, our sun... it is the center focal point of our existence, or at least it should be... without it, we dont exist... over time, our sun will change and eventually explode, creating a new energy that will change other parts of the universe... which will then in turn create something else, which can never be fully explained until after it happens... that's my point... the physical God can be explained, but physical and spiritual existences cannot coexist, at least not on a conscious level that can be fully comprehended... this is why religion was created, to explain the spiritual existence of God, due to the fact that the spiritual existence of God is what people who believe in God worship... explaining the spirit of God is a waste of time until our physical existence has expired.

Like God's existence, life for you and I also have the duel levels of infinite existence... obviously, a spiritual existence continues to grow through the end of time... end of time, haha, thats a concept that makes no sense... time is infinitely continual, so how can it end?? but at this moment in time, I am physically existing as a fully functional, intellectual human being, so I can't truly explain what the spiritual existence is... I cant give you undeniable proof of what a spirit is; all I can do is speculate... like the human spirit, our physical existence is also everlasting... yes, I said it... our physical existence is never ending... let that sink in... it's really simple, life, in the physical sense, is created, developed and eventually functionally destroyed... however the physical existence of a person is still there after a person dies... it's just changed and will continue changing thru the end of time (there I go again with the oxymoron)... look at the dinosaurs, who are declared by science as extinct... the term should be revised to state that they are functionally destroyed... dinosaurs still exist, not in the sense where we can go to Jurassic Park and see them, but they fuel our cars, planes and heat our houses... infinite physical existence... I've studied all the major religions and I must admit, the Buddhists got this one right... their concept of nirvana exemplifies my Theory of Double Infinity perfectly... simply put: when the flame goes out, the fire never dies.

God is whatever people want to believe it is... people want hope, they pray to God... people want help, they pray to God... people want to find themselves, they ask God to direct them in the right direction... God has never ending existence and infinite change.

My personal religious views create a nostalgic memory of the meaning of the names FluiD, Constant, and Double Infinity Entertainment... simply define the words themselves... I wish I could go into further detail, but I could be here for hours... in short, it is my belief to not guess at what the spiritual God is, when I die, I'll find out... when I die, I'll be able to have full knowledge of what the afterlife is about because it's just a waste of my time to speculate what it could be... when I die, my physical existence will always be, just will always change in a different form, creating and affecting all life after my functionality here on earth has expired... but while I'm here, I will continue to create an ever-changing infinite expression that will impact the world, even if the world doesn't realize it.

Cooper, Smith & Bleakley Lost At Sea

On Saturday, four friends set out for a fishing trip off the coast of Florida. Unfortunately, bad weather conditions abruptly put an end to their trip, capsizing their boat and most likely taking the lives of 3 of these men. After three days, which covered over 20,000 miles of ocean, Coast Guard officials suspended the search for NFL veterans Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith and former Univ of South Florida player William Bleakley at 6:30pm on Tuesday. Sadly, the football fraternity of players lose 3 good men who will be missed. Coast Guard Captain Timothy Close stated that if there were any more survivors, they would have been found. Bleakley's former South Florida teammate, Nick Schuyler was the lone survivor of this tragic catastrophe. As an NFL and NCAA Football fan, watching Raiders, Lions or Bulls game next season will have a distracting sadness that will weigh heavy in my heart. Prior tragedies in sports have brought players and fans together in remembrance and mourning that has always had a positive result. I feel for the friends, family and former teammates of these 3 men and my heart goes out to them.

Who is Washington REALLY looking out for??

Our country's economic system is on the brink of collapse without drastic measures taken to turn around the downward spiral path it is in right now. President Barack Obama pushed for an economic stimulus bill to create a preliminary initiative to correct the economic disaster our country is experiencing in these times of struggle. The purpose of this bill is to reverse the downfall caused by a number of factors, which just turn into partisan finger-pointing. That's something I'm going to avoid at this time because the destruction of prosperity in our economic system is essentially a bi-product of loopholes and errors in the infrastructure of capitalism. Now, the question is is how will it affect me? The average citizen may not experience the effects of the efforts to bring back economic prosperity to this country for years, if at all.

Obama gives promises that this bill will create jobs and preserve employment security, which any out of work or lay-off endangered citizen of this country is counting on to support themselves and/or their families without the ever increasingly fear of losing their ability to comfortably do so. The $870+ million stimulus bill also vows to fund troubled states to erase their individual budget debts. This should prevent temporary state shutdowns and layoffs to cut money that was budgeted incorrectly or improperly spent. Struggling state unemployment benefit and medicaid programs are promised to be rejuvenated by additional funding.

This stimulus also included encouraging funding for further development of eco-safe alternative energy in order to prevent the extinction of the current energy resources keeping our country running. To think the continual importing of crude oil and mining of native resources is like a never-ending free refill at your local diner is just recklessly naive.

Banks, airlines and auto manufacturers already received their bailouts before the new administration took office, but now the consumers get their turn, allow fiscally irresponsible lenders and loan seekers to receive assistance in balancing debts and correcting a more fair cash flow throughout our economy. However, banks like Stanley Morgan and Chase Manhattan have already been caught improperly using these funds made available to fix the lending crisis. Additionally, interest rates have risen, not gone down, and banks are lending even less now, while corporate executives receive bonuses to retain their services in times of merger and corporate restructuring. I'm sorry, did I say bonuses, I'll correct that, "retention awards."

The Fed controls the money in this country with influence from such powerful banks mentioned above. Where there is free money, there's always corruption. Don't expect the bulk of this money included in this bill to be properly used. Capitalism promotes deregulation and allows corporate America to run itself, without little to no oversight by our governement. As I've said in the past, our struggles won't end until our government takes back the power over the flow of money and no longer allow CEOs dictate how and where money gets delegated.

Obama promised change. For this to really happen, we need government and banking reform to the extreme. Plugging in more money into an imperfect system doesn't fix the problem, just temporarily covers it up. Until our economic system is restructured, the bandaids we're throwing over gaping wounds will continue to be unsuccessful. Hardworking, average citizens will continue to struggle until this happens.

ESPN analysts have said that Kobe's 61 was more impressive, which I think is insanely absurd... as Spike Lee explained this morning on First Take, I have to agree with him fully.

LeBron has improved his game exponentially this year... EVERY ASPECT OF IT!!! he's faster, stronger, more confident, more controlled, and more DOMINANT! just look at the way his jumpshot looks now compared to last... its almost comparable to Jordan's shot as he began to age... LeBron has a slower, more controlled shot than ever... he's stepped up on defense this season, moves the ball better than most point guards in the league and his basketball intelligence seems to have increased... if LeBron doesnt get MVP this year, I'll lose all respect for the voters.

Cancer Surgery for Ginsburg

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the only woman on the Supreme Court, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008 underwent surgery today at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York... this is her second battle with cancer, having survived colorectal cancer in 1999... Ginsburg, now 75 years old, was appointed to the Supreme Court by Bill Clinton in 1993 after serving on the US Court of Appeals since 1981... this news comes 2 weeks after the death of longtime NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow who lost her decades long battle with breast cancer.

For me, this hits home very hard... my mother and grandmother are both cancer survivors... however, not everyone is so lucky... just a few days ago, my 2 children's great grandmother was diagnosed with terminal cancer spread throughout her body and was given only a month to live... for years I have supported the V Foundation for Cancer Research... it is still very sad knowing that Jim Valvano's efforts to push for a cure for this dreadful disease continues to raise millions of dollars, yet millions continue to lose their lives to it... it is and always will be in my prayers that I live to see the day that the worldwide efforts to overcome cancer finds a cure and the human race will no longer have to continue to lose loved ones to this disease.

Could Relapse Be The Best Album In Over A Year??

first it was pushed back to Dec 23rd, then sometime February, now its Spring of 09... patiently waiting here for this album to finally be released to prove that well established artists aren't done making good albums... take a listen to the entire albums on the list below and tell me if you don't agree that these are ALL very disappointing albums released in the last year:

Akon - Freedom
- Konvict Music gone pop... not 1 track that moves me.

Kanye West - 808's & Heartbreaks
- most unique and creative album of the year, but other than Heartless, I cant listen to 1 track on this album straight thru

Nas - Untitled
- got some decent tracks, but nothing that blows me away... Sly Fox is the only track that really makes me think and most of the album bores me

The Game - L.A.X.
- Bonus CD is better than the album... I find something wrong with releasing 19 tracks and the worst of the 4 tracks on the Bonus CD is better than the best track on the other 19 on the main disc.

Sheek Louch - Silverback Gorilla
- I have nothing good to say about an album that only has 1 song I like

Prodigy - Product of the 80's
- I was lookin forward to this one cause I was really feelin H.N.I.C. 2 and Shed Thy Blood is the only track that got the grittiness I'm used to hearing from him.

LL Cool J - Exit 13
- there might be some good tracks after track 5, but I couldnt listen anymore past this point.... maybe I shoulda gave this one a FULL listen, but LL fell off a while ago in my eyes.

AZ - Undeniable
- I've always been a fan of AZ, but like the new Nas album, this album bores me... it does have some decent joints

2008 was full of disappointments, but it did bring some good albums.

Royce da 5'9 - The Album
- Give Up Ya Guns feat. Talib Kweli (produced by DJ Which) could be one of the hottest tracks out there right now... every beat on this album is fire and Royce rocks every one of them.

Ludacris - Theater of the Mind
- every track but 1 has someone featuring on it... Floyd Maywheather, Ving Rhames, Chris Rock, and Spike Lee make cameo appearances in this theatrical production of an album... fittingly MVP (produced by DJ Premier) is only beat Luda rocks solo... Ludacris is proving to still be a force in the hip hop world.

Scarface - Emeritus
- arguably the best album released in '08... Scarface comes hard and delivers moving lyrical messages in every track, making this album fittingly titled.

most moving presidential speech I've heard in my lifetime... he said what needed to be said and invoked an emotional movement felt across the world... as we watched this, I told my son we were watching history in the making and these words will be remembered for all time.

I agree with most of what he said but, sorry, there's always a but with me, I'm not your average political cynic... I gotta take shots here... not at Barack Obama, but at our overall situation in this country... yes, it is time for change, immediate change... change of economic stability and fiscal responsibility... change in political declarations that become empty rhetoric and affects the average citizen no more than Kobe Bryant affected the Eagles game last Sunday... yes, exactly... change in restoring the world's faith that our United States of America can once again lead the masses in productive progression toward a brighter future for all mankind... and last but not least, change in realizing that all good things must come to an end... what I mean by this is the way our country and its components live (and die) based on the "Great American Dream" we know as capitalism... at this moment in time, capitalism is in great danger of collapse if Bush's bailout plans fail and Wall Street can't rebound during Obama's 1st few years of economic reform... my focus on our country's fate is on our country's wealth and distribution of it, and the Obama administration has the duty of mending the economic wounds caused by the long term effects of instituting a cap-less cash flow that American businesses today thrive or choke on... this, in turn, causes the rich to get richer and the poor get poorer, especially in times like these... this puts an insanely large amount of pressure on Obama's administration.

Barack Obama is going to be remembered for 1 of 3 things:
1 - the man who saved capitalism
2 - the man who failed to save capitalism
3 - the man who realized that capitalism is not worth saving and restructures our economic system toward a free-socialist economy... its kinda like taking the NFL's revenue sharing policies to the extreme and applying it on Capitol Hill.

Barack Obama's Inauguration Address was powerfully moving and gives great hope for a prosperous future for us... this speech was either false promises from a man telling us what we want to hear, or the first official address from our country's economic savior... we'll find out soon (hopefully).
